Peter Mark NCAD Graduate Fashion Show 2011
I recently accompanied Bairbre Power editor of the Irish Independent to the show , held in the beautiful surroundings of the royal Hospital Kilmainham hosted the 13th Peter Mark NCAD Graduate Fashion show. The show was a mixture of both the graduates, 2nd and 3rd years , There was talk that the 3rd years were the ones to watch,Micheal Power in particular his creations were ablaze of neons mixed with primary and great sense of texture. To me the Graduates were the ones to watch, I love the concepts behind each persons garments, I can almost picture there sketch's,notebooks, brainstorms. The winner of this years River Island Bursary, Clarisse Walsh, From Letterkenny

took her ideas from words such as static, sharp, pleating, shadows all of witch are so present in her work, she showed detail and skill. I also loved Gemma Daly her use of shape is similar to ideas of mine ,her use of colour blocking with stripes and sold black and white is so classical.I also loves Aoife Conroy purely her lover of the bowler hat and Laura Gilsenan for her clown like silotettes and oversized shirts. The show boasted amazing talent if not scared me a little as this will hopefully be me one day.
